Things To Do In Goa

India meets Portugal. Hindu temples, Portuguese forts, health spas, beach bars and hammocks.
Goa ticks all the right boxes in terms of beach paradise.

There are wide sweeping bays with rocky headlands, small bays with giant boulders topped with Portuguese and Maratha forts and an unparalleled variety of spectacular beaches.

Goa’s reputation as a beach and party paradise is not unfounded but there are also the bustling markets, grand churches, lush forest and wildlife reserves plus an endless choice of outstanding International multi-cuisine restaurants.

Goa is divided into three geographic regions, North, Central and South, each reflecting different lifestyles. The North is the most ‘alive’, the capital and most interesting historic and architectural sights are in the center and the quiet secluded beaches are found in
the South.

Activities and Excursions

India’s smallest state offers a surprisingly large variety of activities. When you feel like a change from the beach or your pool we can arrange day trips within Goa or bespoke itineraries into the neighboring states of Karnataka and Maharashtra. Here are some suggestions;

Day Trips

Take a tour of Old Goa with its fabulous cathedrals and churches and visit untouched villages on hidden river islands. Explore grand Portuguese mansions of South Goa for a peek into the state’s heritage. Charter Goa’s only truly private luxury yacht. Cruise up the Britona river or out to the Arabian Sea with sunset cocktails on deck followed by a superb home cooked dinner. See the varied species of wildlife in the jungle of the Western Ghats with lunch in a 4-star forest camp. Deep sea game fishing on the Arabian Sea.

Excursions

Take a tour of the magnificent world heritage site of Hampi which boasts of some of the finest architectural wonders in India. Visit the sleepy Hindu pilgrimage town of Gokarna and spend the night being pampered at a sumptuous 5-star spa hotel. White water rafting down the ghats with a night’s stay in a secluded private safari lodge.

Shopping

Goa has a unique selection of Western/Indian markets as well as authentic local town markets whilst every season sees the arrival of more boutique and designer outlets.

Mapusa Market

This is the market hub of North Goa. The main market area is packed with charm and colour and is most popular on Fridays.

Margao Market

The vast covered market in the center of Margao, the second city of Goa, makes a great afternoon trip into the unknown.

Anjuna Flea Market

The ‘must do’ on a Wednesday. This was the first hippy market which has mushroomed from a couple of small stalls selling paraphernalia on a porch in the 60s – Today you’ll find anything and everything brought in from all over India and abroad. There’s a mix of foreigners, Goans, Banjara and Kashmiries, all plying their trade in this bustling fun market.

‘Saturday Nite’ Market

Goans descend on Arpora every Saturday night; a shopping mecca and cultural melting pot. All from the above can be found here along with live music performance and an infinite array of multi cuisine food stalls. The best place to meet and check out what’s ‘happening’ in Goa.

Sangolda

Goa’s epitome of chic is owned by Claudia and Hari Ajwani (of the exclusive Hotel Nilaya) and is THE place for the most stunning interior pieces selected from around India.

Wendell Rodricks

You will find this fashion guru’s casual wear throughout the store.
